Visiting Auckland Zoo

To get a break before the exam period kicks in, we went to Auckland Zoo today. Auckland Zoo is located just west of Downtown Auckland in the beautiful Western Springs Reserve. The zoo is quite big, with all sorts of animals (and lots and lots of noisy kids;). They have a nice-price-policy for students - it only costed us NOK60 to get in. If you pay NOK60 to enter a Norwegian zoo, you'll probably get nothing but flees, so the fun/money-ratio for Auckland Zoo is pretty high.

Even though I am not a very big fan of capturing animals and putting them into cages, I cannot deny that face-to-face meetings with lions, cheetas and tarantulas are quite memorable. But can someone please provide the zoo with a Norwegian elk?

We here bring you a few pictures for your viewing pleasure.

Giraffes are fascinating creatures. They can be 6.5 metres tall and have a tongue with a length of 45 cm. Mari thought the giraffe baby (right) was so cute that she planned to steal it. Unfortunatly, zoo-lifting by putting a giraffe into your purse is not that easy.

What? You want me to catch that alligator-bastard so I can make you shoes and a new purse?

The mandatory ice-break. The temperature in Auckland is rising by the day - today we had about 22 degrees.

As if we hadn't seen enough funny creatures in the zoo, we met these guys when we got of the bus in Auckland CBD.

Summervacation is getting closer!

It finally starts to get warmer here now, and the summer vacation is only 4 weeks away! We have started to plan our journey now and are really looking forward to see more of the country. We changed our airplane ticket last night so we are going to Australia the 30th of November! We are going to drive around on the South Island of New Zealand before that, so that is going to be fun. Me, Jørgen, Marius and Christian are buying a car and a tent and then we are ready for a road trip:) We have now finished our Yoga and Hip Hop class for this semester too and the classes is soon finished. It is so strange that we have already been here one semester. It has passed by so incredible fast. We have decided to not keep the apartment during the summer. We are not going to live here for 3 month, so we decided that we not wanted to use so much money on rent. I don’t think it will be a problem to find a new one next semester, and we don’t exactly have that much thing to move either so we have decided that this is the best solution. Even though we really have loved the apartment! Soon starts the exam period, so it will probably be a lot of school work the next weeks, but it will probably be time for some fun things too, and on the 9th of November we both are finished!
